My work at the GRC is focused on the study of multicomponent seismic data. Multicomponent technology allows the simultaneous recording of "conventional" P-waves and S-waves. One of the areas of application of this technology is the characterization of fracture systems in the subsurface, which is another subject I am heavily involved in at the GRC.
I joined the GRC in 2005 after graduating from a PhD and have since worked on a number of interesting projects. The work allows me both to use my existing skills and to gain exposure to a variety of new subjects. Working in a team of geoscientists at the GRC and also in strong collaboration with many colleagues at headquaters and different subsidiaries is an integral part of my job that makes it very exciting. A further interesting aspect of my work is the interaction with universities, partners and contractors. Multi-component seismic monitoring of a field in Norway and characterization of fractured reservoirs in Algeria are two projects I have worked on, that involve collaborating with all these different parties. Overall, the work provides great opportunities to broaden skills and to build a strong network that will be useful further along in my career.
